THE INFLUENCE OF LAND USE ON SOME SOIL PARAMETERS IN THE CÂMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC DEPRESSION

Abstract


The case study indicates that the function and evolution of forest soils in the depression of Câmpulung Moldovenesc take place in conditions of thermal inversions, and that thermal differences caused by slopes and exposition are radically opposed to the two main sides of Moldova valley. The soil profiles are located on the left side of Moldova valley, on southern exposition with daytime temperatures higher than on the right side. These temperature differences are annihilated by thermal inversions, especially in winter with fogs and high clouds. A number of analytical data were interpreted, are characteristic to the upper A horizon of pairs of profiles and changes in some physic-chemical parameters following changes in land use were indicated. It was found that the main elements of typological differentiation, pH, C/N ratio and base saturation level, do not always correlate with the expected developments for change in land use of forest in meadows.
